Our founder and visionary Rafael Feliciano-Roman (Born Nelson Rafael Roman) moved back home to Waterbury, CT after 13 years away, coming back and being an Afro-Taino artist he wanted a space to teach, make art.  After reaching out to all of the major institutions in the city and seeing there wasn't a desire to create a space that was inclusive and leading with the voice of the Diaspora Rafael and 8 other individuals formed the Afro Caribbean Cultural Center, now in its third year of existence.
